The Oakwood Cemetery Walk was first offered in 1997. This long running program introduces participants to the various residents of Oakwood Cemetery. Originally offered as part of Rochester-fest, the event was moved to the fall to allow for educational opportunities for schools. A theme is chosen each year relating the people covered. At the end of each year, visitor feedback is used to choose the theme for the next year.
Recent themes have included Crimes and Crime Fighters and Sports. The theme for 20012 is Military Heroes.
Each year a number of sites are chosen and actors present their stories. This is a walking tour lasting about an hour. There are also activities offered at the chapel each year.
