Mayowood Gardens and Grounds

12:30 pm - 3:30 pm

To allow folks who wish the opportunity to picnic, family activites will begin at 1:30. (Family activities will include reading a book about the theme of the day).

Mayowood Gardens
 

Themes:

June21: Gardening with garden art activity (Tours of the perennial gardens around the house, ask questions about home gardens etc)

June 28: Fairies (Build a fairy house)

July 12: Trees: Jay Maier, arborist, will lead a tour to see the trees planted by Dr Charlie in the early 1900s. (Family activities such as bark rubbing and leaf pounding).

July 19: Birds: Carrie Nelson, from Quarry Hill, will do bird banding

July 26: Sensory plants: weaving with plants (Feel fuzzy lamb’s ear, rub and smell scented geraniums, taste herbs)

Aug 2: Fairies (Build a fairy house)

Aug 9: Monarch magic: Learn about the life cycle of a Monarch butterfly

Aug 16: Birds: Carrie Nelson, from Quarry Hill, will do bird banding

Olmsted County Master Gardeners will be available at all open days to lead the family activities, give tours of the historic hillside water garden and answer your garden questions.

Supplies for some activities may be limited. Activities will be cancelled in case of rain.

Visitors can participate in the planned activities or wander the property on their own.
