Hands On History!

Thank you for considering us as a destination for your students!

Dive into an immersive learning experience on our historic campus! In addition to exploring the 1860s Stoppel Farmstead, your students can discover an 1880s restored one‑room schoolhouse, step inside an 1860s log cabin, and learn about our heirloom gardens - each offering a unique window into life in the 19th century. A tour of our caves is included during summer months and in appropriate weather.

Our field trips include hands-on activities that bring history to life. We work closely with teachers to create experiences that reinforce classroom lessons and academic standards. Program highlights include:

  • Historic Structures: Explore the Stoppel Farmstead, one-room schoolhouse, and log cabin.
  • History Museum: Discover current exhibits and learn about Olmsted County’s past.
  • Heirloom Gardens: Learn about historic plants, farming methods, and local heritage.
  • Interactive Activities: Engage with tools, demonstrations, and hands-on projects that make history tangible.
  • Teacher Collaboration: Experiences tailored to support classroom lessons and curriculum standards.
  • Variety of Themes: Agricultural history, immigration, local history, and more - all designed to complement classroom learning.

From historic buildings to interactive discovery, every visit sparks curiosity and makes history come alive for your students!
